Introduction II: The Order of Man

 Built atop the ancient kingdom where man first raised his banner, the Great City of Hatlynshire stands as the shining heartland of the human domain, forged by saints and preserved by the people’s undying belief in the might of industry and institution. Yet all is not as it seems, for hidden deep within the government, outside the gaze of the masses, lies the heart of the machine. An institution that operates in shadow, whose whims even the wealthy and the powerful are beholden to. An institution born to fulfill an ancient oath, to uphold the current order and to eradicate the scions of the Arylmoor. An institution whose secrecy is so absolute, that its existence can never be proven. This organization was known as The Order of Man.

Like the Circulions whom they swore to vanquish, the Order of Man holds absolute power over Hatlynshire and its government. Their power and their hunt for Circulions held up and orchestrated by the Hunter Legions, nine battalions of soldiers clad in angel masks, and their structure headed by the Grand Overseer, a role held only by the hereditary Grand-Prince of Hatlynshire, with the Mayor of Hatlynshire as it’s figurehead.

Whilst the origins of the Order and their hunt date back further than the Circle, at present both sides remain in a never-ending conflict, for neither side has the power to truly vanquish the other. It is this power dynamic that holds the very fabric of Hatlynshire’s society together.

It is advised that all Circulion citizens avoid going out at night as Hunters roam the streets past dusk. It is also advised that residents of the Hamlets refrain from travelling to Great Borough, the oldest of the boroughs and the heart both the Hatlynshire government and the Order of Man.

They Who Hide Under Top Hats - March 2025 Retrospective!

  Foreword Hey! The first three months of 2025 have officially come to an end and it has been a very eventful three months. Several new updates have been made to the lore and the story of TWHUTH these past few month. Progress has been made on the art side of things and we have even managed to release the 17th Chapter of TWHUTH, which allowed us to increase our total work count past 100,000 words for the first time!  Progress on the Story of TWHUTH  By the end of March, we had completed the 17th Chapter of They Who Hide Under Top Hats , titled ' The Ceremony IV ' which was released on early April. This chapter, which was the penultimate chapter of the first act of TWHUTH, consisted of more than 16,000 words. They Who Hide Under Top Hats - ONE YEAR ANNIVERSERY

  One Year of They Who Hide Under Top Hats It has been officially a year since the first part of They Who Hide Under Top Hats (TWHUTH) was posted on October 2nd 2023. Since then the story has slowly but surely expanded beyond what I originally planned. Everything from the main plot, the extended lore and the core cast. But aside from the expansion of the story. There has also been quite a considerable expansion in the people who have engaged with it. Though we had a slow start in the first few months it is safe to say the TWHUTH community has entered slow but continuing growth thanks to the people who engage with it. Which is more than I could've ever dreamed of. With all that being said, it is safe to say that TWHUTH as a story would've never come to fruition if not for the continued support of its readers.
