The Demons of Allison Street

(Note: The following information was first recorded in the tome 'The History  House Demon' by Harwood Demon (528- 588 AF). The following is both abridged and para-phrased)

The Burning of Sepalsworth

The Great House of Demon first rose to prominence sometime in the 1st Century AF. Due to their distinct powers and heavy involvement in the steel industry, especially after the downfall of the NIM, they would become a one of the eight houses to sign the Unity Accord and form the foundation of what was to become the Circle. After the conclusion of the War of the Banners by the late 150s AF, the Great Houses would fashion their titles and divide their dominions amongst each other. Thus the Demons of the Hatlynshire Steel Company would become Barons of Demonum Borough and Directors of the House Holding Company of Hatlynshire. They would also create the Barony of Demonum, a large private estate that could encompass large part of the Demonum countryside.

With all these titles and holdings came great wealth, and the family would channel that wealth in order to build their first main residence, Sepalsworth Estate. Built on Sepalsworth Hill in Demonum Borough, the estate would serve as the residence of the House of Demon throughout the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Centuries. However, on the 171st Day of the year 484 AF, a fire would erupt in the estate. While the perpetrators of the fire were never identified, it is believed that they were Hunters or enemies of the Demon Family from within the Circle.

The fire, known as the Burning of Sepalsworth, would occur during the tenure of Baron Walden Demon (433-484 AF). The fire would lead to the deaths of both him and eldest son, Henmilton. The family would be succeeded by Walden's younger son Darwin, and his daughter Allison.

The House on No 09, Allison Street

After the first, Darwin Demon would be appointed as Baron of Demonum. He would try and reconstruct Sepalsworth. However, his attempts would ultimately lead to failure as the fire had led to the manor's original plans being destroyed. Eventually it was decided to relocate the entire family to another residence, and in the meantime the family would use their ancestral estate of Northmount in the Barony of Demonum as a temporary home.

Despite Darwin's attempts at creating a new Demon residence, his sister Allison would be the one to properly plan and design what would become Allison Street. Allison herself was said to have been remarkably intelligent and a lover of mathematical precision, having rejected an invitation to join the Order of the Intelligencia a few years prior to the fire. She would design an entire fake street and system of facades to surround the new family residence in order to give it an exterior disguise. The street would also not be officially registered under the Hatlynhsire government, thereby making it so that it's existence on government records and maps would be avoided in order to prevent Hunters from knowing the location of the Demon Family Residence.

Beginning in the year 485 AF, Allison would spend 8.5 years building the street. She would even allegedly utilize ancient Folk magic in the actual house in order to make house larger on the inside compared to the outside, the specific methods and techniques she used for this remain unknown. The way in which she obtained the knowledge also remains unknown, with some speculating that it was either obtained through the library in Northmount Estate or the secret archives of the College of the Intelligencia. Either way, in the year 493 AF, the street would be completed. And ever since it's completion it has served as the primary seat of the House of Demon.

 The Heirs of Allison Street

Upon the completion of the street, Darwin would become the first Baron to reside in the street. He would also become the one to name the street in Allison's name. Allison would live in the house until her death in the spring of 539 AF, having spent forty six years on Allison Street. She died with no heirs.

Darwin would reign from the House on No 09 from 493 AF till his death in the year 531 AF. His first son and subsequent heir, Markwith Demon, would be born three years after the street's completion. Markwith would begin his reign late in the year 571 AF, and, despite being a competent Baron, would suffer from a lifetime of illness and would therefore he and his wife, Marie Bernstein, would have no heirs. Therefore, the seat of House Demon would be inherited by Markwith's brother, Milton. However, at the time of Markwith's death, Milton was seventy two years old, hence he would relinquish his title almost immediately before passing it on to his son, Milton II or Milton Jr.
